Pastor Craig Schweitzer
Pastor Craig sees himself as a pretty easy going person who seeks to daily discover anew how God is present in his life and in the world in which he lives and serves.
Pastor Craig has served on the staff of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bismarck, ND since July 2002. He was first called to serve as Music & Worship Minister, in 2010 was called to serve as Pastor of Worship and Youth Education, and in January 2014 was called to serve as Senior Pastor.
Pastor Craig sees his role as Senior Pastor of Good Shepherd being one of encouragement. In all that he says and does, he encourages the congregation to remain focused on the mission and ministry God is calling them to live out in the world. The Apostle Paul’s words to the church in Rome help keep him grounded in this work – “Welcome one another, therefore, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God.” (Romans 15:7)
Pastor Craig’s professional background is a diverse collection of musical and educational experiences that ranges from live concert production and promotion to recording studios, and live performance to music education. Prior to joining Good Shepherd, Pastor Craig was an Adjunct Instructor of Music at Bismarck State College and owned and operated a successful teaching studio called 6×6 Guitar Studio.
Pastor Craig is a graduate of the University of Mary in Bismarck with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education and a Master of Science in Strategic Leadership. He also holds a certificate degree in Theological Education for Emerging Ministries (TEEM) from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, CA. Pastor Craig was ordained to the Ministry of Word and Sacrament in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America in September 2010.
Outside of Good Shepherd, Pastor Craig enjoys reading, all music, a little golf, and quiet. And spending time with his wife Wendy and their twin daughters Ilia and Taegan is a source of endless joy.
